Breaking the Mould

"Our dominant Command and Control management culture is at the root of massive waste, especially in context of engaging public sector staff. There are fully researched and proven alternatives. We cannot afford to continue ignoring the evidence in front of us."

On the 22nd to 24th Nov, "The Unreasonable Learners," a group of Scottish thinkers led by Gordon Hall of the Deming Learning Network, set up a stand in Holyrood to lobby the Scottish Parliament on this platform. See Flyer.

One of "The Unreasonable Thinkers" is Peter Hunter, the author of Breaking the Mould. His common sense philosophy states that if management creates the right environment then staff will not just do their job but also provide their discretionary effort. News from Down Under

Andrew Downard Fresh from his project with the Australian Government Andrew has created a blog on “why customers don’t collaborate and how to address this” and a Supply Chain Risk Assessment Spreadsheet which is available to download. Let Andrew have any feedback.

Graham Haines’ new book: Execution to Die For – the Manager’s Guide to Making It Happen is now available at Amazon.com at the highly competitive price of $24.95 plus postage.  It’s the only book that has a total focus on overcoming the barriers to execution with a blueprint for the total operational cycle from planning, implementation, monitoring and measuring to adapting and revising.

Please do five things!

1.  Buy the book! (an e-version will be available shortly)

2.  Read it!

3.  Write a review on Amazon – when enough reviews are available, the Amazon marketing machine moves into operation telling people on their data base, who have bought other business books, that “Execution to Die For “is a reality.

4.  Buy copies for all your managers – that way you will all have a common language when it comes to execution – great for Organisational Alignment & fundamental to effective implementation

5.  Tell your colleagues about the book – so that they can order theirs

Graham’s new web-site and blog are now on-line. It houses a Resource Centre comprising upwards of sixty helpful articles  – all catalogued according to their position on the Wagon Wheel operational model featured in his book. Graham would welcome feedback.
